Il Picchio (the Woodpecker) is located in a peaceful and sunny spot, only a few steps from Lake Mergozzo and close to Lake Maggiore. The park, full of azaleas and camellias, is surrounded by a wood of oak and chestnut trees: here the residents are squirrels, roe deer and wild birds, and the woodpecker is king! Within the park (1,500 sq. m.) there is a pink villa - home to the Bed and Breakfast and its owners- and a yellow house made up of two appartments. The atmosphere is one of pleasant family hospitality, and is sure to make your stay peaceful and relaxing. Its location makes this an ideal departure point for many types of excursions: naturalist trails, tourist attractions and points of cultural interest are all close at hand. There is Lake Maggiore with its Borromean Islands, Lake Orta and the Island of St. Jules, Mt. Rosa, Val Grande with its national park, scenic Vigezzo and Verzasca valleys, destinations such as Stresa, Milan, Como, or Locarno and Lugano in nearby Switzerland... to name a few!
